Teaism

I've been the brunt of 'teaism' a few times recently, and it's very annoying.

I guess somehow, American machismo and caffeine-rage have kind of squandered the art of tea drinking in favor of coffee.

Don't get me wrong, I love the black gold just as much as the next guy, but seriously, I love me some tea, especially green tea, and most specifically, Honey-Ginseng Green Tea (especially when battling a wicked cold such as the one I have now.)

Every now and then, you end up in a situation where you're drinking tea amongst a bunch of surly coffeeists. Yesterday I was down in the cafeteria getting a hot cup of said tea, and admittedly being private about it because it just so happened to be break time for the machinists, and I didn't want a lot of guff.

Lo and behold, I was in the cashiers line, when she politely asked at the top of her lungs "coffee or tea, honey?" and it felt like every eye in the room was on me.

Teaist bastards.

Lots of people here drink tea, including me.  Granted, we don't have any 'machinists'.  I have a cup of Irish Breakfast (Twinnings) every morning before I leave the house and at work I'll usually get English Breakfast or green.  I lean towards green in the afternoon.

I work in academia...where if you don't drink tea your like being the only hippy who doesn't drop acid...

I am off of coffee.  It's just not a substitute for like, nutrition.  A hard-learned lesson in my life!  So I'm all about the green tea.  I've been loving the taste of it lately, this stuff I got at the Central Market is like, authentic.  That's not quite the right word, but you know what I mean.  This Japanese woman helped me choose which one, and it's made near where she grew up. She cut the box open and gave me some free samples, which...ya gotta love that, at that store...everything is organic, which really just means expensive.

I only eat unorganic.  The flavor is artificial but the cancer is genuine.  Mmmm!

So that must mean you're an expert on cheap eats?  Hook me up with the low down dirty scoop.  (FYI I know you just be making stuff up, so whatever you say I probly won't believe you).

I really want to order some of the white tea from Rishi. One of my Daily Fact buddies says it's the best. I'd need to get a teapot and a thermometer though.
